About Marisol Vengas

Marisol Vengas is the art persona of Max Infeld, a Chico California based artist focused on social engagement in art.

“Marisol Vengas liked to throw ad hoc art making sessions at the local cafe. Passing strangers would stop by and color, assemble or be in charge of the composition.”

How these artworks were constructed

• Source imagery was gathered by script then hand selected and printed on colored paper.
• Participants in cafes colored and helped compose elements which emphasized social engagement.
• Branches printed on clear acetate were layered over the colored building studies.
• Works were mounted to foamcore and finished at the edges with air duct tape to stabilize the mixed media assembly.

Artist method in brief The series uses a generative approach in the physical world where an autonomous workflow and community participation shape each final piece.

Technical details, authentication, and security

• No NFTs come with these items. These are one of one physical originals.
• Each artwork includes an embedded RFID NFC chip on the reverse. Scanning links to a specific IPFS entry that records the image hash of the physical object for added security and provenance checks.
• The images of the physical objects are hashed on IPFS. Surface marks and variations from the cafe sessions in 2016 are part of the provenance of this series.

Care and materials

These artworks were intentionally made with accessible materials. They use foamcore, printed paper, mixed media, and ducting foil along the edges. They are not archival grade and can fade if kept in direct light. Display with care.

Included markings

These artworks include the original tags that read “Marisol Vengas 6th Edition” with the original titles, prices, and edition numbers as sold in cafes. Added identifiers include the embedded chip, the IPFS hash, and an EOS blockchain hash where related transactions are recorded.
